A family in Morara village, Rioma Sensi ward, Kitutu Chache North in Kisii county are mourning after their form 4 candidate succumbed on Saturday morning after a short illness.
Speaking to this writer, the area chief Mr. Evans Onchiri said the male candidate identified as Amos Nyakundi Atuya fell ill on Friday morning and was rushed to Marani Hospital where he was treated and discharged to attend a chemistry practical paper at Geturi Secondary school.
"Yes I confirm the candidate studying at Geturi Secondary School fell ill yesterday morning where he was rushed to the hospital, he was treated and discharged to attend a chemistry practical paper," said Onchiri.
Onchiri added that the candidate was well and feeding until the night where he again started to seriously complain of stomachache, his father Samuel Masaka rushed him to Kisii referral hospital for further treatment only to be pronounced dead on Saturday Morning.
"Until the night he again started complaining of stomach pains, his father rushed him to Kisii level six but reaching Saturday Morning the doctors pronounced him dead," he added.
According to the chief, the candidate is said to have thanked the School teachers earlier on for time spent together and left a note too thanking his parents for taking him through 8-4-4 education system. The cause of his death is not yet clear.
