Kenyan-born star Linton Maina played his first full match in the Bundesliga on Friday, as Hannover 96 played out a 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund.
Maina played for the first time for a full 90 minutes at the HDI-Arena, but could not pick the three points against a good Dortmund side.
This was the second match for Maina for the new season, having played for the first ever Bundesliga match in a 1-1 away draw with Werder Bremen the previous week.
The 19-year old is born to a Kenyan father and Germany mother played for 61 minutes before being replaced by Japanese midfielder Genki Haraguchi.
He has played 2 matches now this season, equaling the number of matches that he played the whole of last season.
His debut was in mid-March when he played for four minutes against host Borrusia Dortmund for his debut but ended on the losing end as they lost 1-0.
He was given playing time again in a match against Bayer Leverkusen in May, where he assisted in a 3-2 loss. In another matcher, Austria-born Philipp Mwene made his debut for Mainz 05 in their match against Nuremberg, in a 1-1 draw at the Max Morlock Stadium.
Mwene was thrown into action in the 81st minute for Wien-born striker Karim Onisiwo for his debut.
Mwene, 25, joined Mainz at the close of last season on a three-year deal from relegated second-tier side Kaiserslautern on a free transfer.
Both Maina and Mwene are yet to be capped for their countries of birth and could be open to don the Kenyan jersey should they chose to.
