Residents of Keroka in Nyamira County have claimed that Interior CS Fred Matiang'i is too lenient on unlicensed liquor sellers.
Led by Fred Anunda, they said Matiang'i has been making empty threats on liquor dealers engaging in the business without valid licences.
"Matiang'i is the reason more people are engaging in the illegal sell of liquor. His empty threats have made several rogue traders not to be scared since he speaks but, implementation becomes a problem," he said at Keroka town on Wednesday.
Abel Nyang'au said most of the local bars are operating without licences while others opens businesses early in the morning.
"People doesn't go the farms to work because bars are open early in the morning. It is high time Matiang'i should implement his threats by ensuring a thorough crackdown is conducted to apprehend those running bar businesses without licences," said Nyanga'u.
Sarah Barongo claimed that some men have been rendered unproductive because they have ventured fully in alcohol consumption.
"Men are no longer responsible because of the several bars coming up. Matiang'i should pressure police officers to crackdown illegal liquor sellers who are selling cheap alcohol to men," she stated.
