On Friday the vocal leader hinted that he might soon join the DP bloc, ditching the ruling party on whose ticket he was reelected to office in the 2017 general elections.

Declaring his pending relocation on Friday, Kuria said that it is time Central Kenya leaders reunited under the old party which he said is their own and worth their backing.

“To all my detractors out there, let us meet at the grassroots. DP is the party of the region. We leave the others to (Nominated MP Maina) Kamanda," he was quoted by the Nation.

However, such a move will demand that the latter resigns from his post and vie afresh on his new party of choice.

Should he manage to bounce back then good for him, a daredevil stunt that could also see him lose his seat to another candidate should he fail to convince the masses.

His indication has been welcomed by DP Deputy Secretary General Wambugu Nyamu who said that he is free to jump ship.

"Kuria had publicly indicated that he wants to join our party without informing us. He even formed a WhatsApp group named Democratic Party on Friday morning. But he later called the chairman on phone and was welcomed and allowed to publicise the party,” said Wambugu.
