In a statement on Monday, the last day of 2018, Mudavadi lashed out at Uhuru and his Jubilee leadership for failing Kenyans in 2018.

He highlighted the runaway graft, bashing the government for heaping more and more burden on the shoulders on Kenyans in loans and credit.

Speaking on behalf of his party, the former Deputy Prime Minister attacked Uhuru for ignoring calls from Kenyans and concerned political formations to reconsider the debts.

"We are hurting. All indicators show that unless we make a deliberate about-turn, we shall continue hurting. The ratio of debt to our GDP will be unmanageable,” he was quoted by the Nation.

He was speaking at Mikaye Restaurant in Nyali, Mombasa County.

He added that the government has also failed to address the rising unemployment headache.

He observed that the government has been reluctant to act on individuals and organizations found to be promoting graft, hence the worsening conditions.

He said that his party has been in the front line in keeping the government in check, but in vain.

"The government responded in some measure to some of our concerns and although the war against corruption is picking up, some matters that we raised in the year remain unattended to and stubborn thorns in the national flesh," he added.
