Landlords or landladies are among people Nairobi residents fear most.
Some landlords are feared because of how they handle and treat tenants especially those who delay or fail to pay their monthly house rent.
It is often difficult to argue with some landlords or ladies on anything especially when you (tenant) are on the wrong.
There are however good landlords and landladies who understand their tenants.
Here are tips on how to keep a good relationship with your landlord.
1. Pay your rent on time
If you want to be in 'good books' with a land-lord or land-lady, then pay your monthly rent on time.
Paying your rent early places you in good books of your landlord or lady.
If you always pay on time and it happens that you delay, he or she will understand and will not kick you out.
2. Never gossip about you land-lord or lady
Some people are known to gossip or bad mouth their land-lords or land-lady.
You will be in trouble when he or she realizes that you bad-mouth him or her and that youth have failed or delayed paying rent.
3. Share with him/her the small things you have
It is always good to share when you have material things like food in plenty.
Sharing creates a good relationship between you and your landlord or landlady and he or she will never mistreat you.
4. Never embarrass your landlord or lady
Some people engage in ugly spats with their landlord or ladies and in the process embarrass them.
If your landlord or landlady engages you in an ugly argument it will be good if you just walk away.
