sex workers trying to maximise gains from their trade have come up with a different payment method with M-PESA service now taking the upper hand.

Speaking to Anita Wahu, who hawks sex at Baringo lodge, said they have opted for the service since it is more convenient with most of their clients besides being the most secure and genuine mode of transactions.

She further revealed that the new mode has also helped them save and plan well for their 'hard-earned money'.

"At one point we realised we were losing a lot and that we were not making any progress in our families despite earning big from this. We realised that if we changed the mode of payment then it could help us and since then it is fruitful," she said.

Janet Moraa, commercial sex worker along Kanu Street admits that the new mode of payment was the best, however, some of their clients were still reluctant to accept it.

"Since we moved to M-PESA payment method, things have actually changed from worse to better. It has helped us develop trust with our clients and especially the new clients," she added.

This article is not meant to glorify prostitution in any way.
