Through lawyer Nicholus Ombija, Mr. Obado asked the court to grant him bail as he battles to clean his name from outside.

"The accused was not mentioned directly as part of the team that executed the alleged murder. He's in jail out of public pressure.

"He should be allowed to go back home and serve his people. He cannot go anywhere and he's determined to cleanse his name," Ombija said, adding that the governor had been elected twice thus the trust by people.

Justice Jessie Lessit will make a ruling whether or not to grant the ODM governor bail on October 24th. The latest development means that Obado will spend 12 more days at Industrial Area prison.

Prosecution team consolidated Obado's case with those of his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, both who will know their fate the same date.

The trio are facing murder charges of Sharon Otieno and unborn child, with the DPP insisting that Obado was keen to eliminate her due to pregnancy.

Although Obado had admitted of being in a relationship with Sharon, DNA samples also showed that he was the father of unborn baby.
