African Union’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development Raila Odinga has dismissed claims that he is part of a political dynasty.
Speaking during an interview on KTN's Point Blank on Wednesday, Raila said that there is nothing like the Odinga, Kenyatta and Moi dynasties.
The Former Prime Minister said that the leaders accusing him and President Uhuru Kenyatta of riding on their fathers’ influence to become powerful in the political arena of maliciousness.
He insisted that he was raised from a humble background and terming him as a prince doesn’t make sense.
Raila, who has been pushing for a referendum before 2022, said that dynasties only existed in other parts of the world and not Africa.
He insisted that Former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Founding father of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta worked extra hard in life to rise to the top of the country’s leadership.
He further said that it is unfair for leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto to link him to dynasty.
“Dynasties used to exist in medieval Europe and the Middle East, but never existed in Africa," he said in part, as quoted by Standard.
During the interview, Raila also rubbished claims that the war against corruption is targeting DP Ruto.
He maintained that there is need for accountability among leaders for better service delivery.
