Former President Barrack Obama has arrived in the country with a high-powered entourage.

The plane carrying him touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport minutes after mid-day.

The convoy carrying him snaked its way towards State House where he is expected to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta for talks.

This is the first time that he has visited the country after leaving the presidency in 2016.

Kenyans have been reacting to the former president's arrival in Kenya.

Here is what the residents of Garissa had to say:

"Welcome home Barrack Obama. We are very proud of you," Sudhe Karim said.

"I hope that he also visits Garissa. We love him," Salma Kamal said.

"I hope that he will speak out against corruption and other social evils," Nadhif Dulo said.

"Wow! Barrack Obama is back. Karibu nyumbani," Godana Dhuyono said.

"I am only disappointed that he ha has not tagged along with his wife Michelle and daughters," Fahki Mohamed said.
