A section of youths from Kisii County claims that they were robbed their allowances during the International Youths day celebrations held at Kisii High School on Sunday.
The youths led by Zack Oanda spoke to the press at Kisii hotel on Wednesday and said they didn't get an allowance of Sh1000 as they were early promised.
"We were promised Sh1000 as allowance but, the committee escaped with the money and switched off their phones. Some of us walked by foot to our homes," he said.
He said over the 1000 youths who attended from all the 9 sub-counties did not receive their allowance.
"The committee led by Walter Nyambane have looted over Sh1 million because no youth was given anything as early communicated. We want our money or we will protest," said Oanda.
He said the committee has until Monday to produce the money failure to which they will go to the streets.
Another youth, Rodgers Onyancha faulted the committee for escaping with the money which was meant for the youths who were invited for the function.
"Corruption will never end in this country because even a function presided over by the President, the organisers decided to steal the money meant for the youths' allowances. It is so shameful," he said.
Onyancha said all youths who attended must be given the money before Monday next week.
