Machakos Deputy Governor Eng Francis Maliti has urged youths in Machakos to shun drug abuse and focus on studies.

Speaking on Sunday in Kithimani ward in Yatta sub-county, the DG said that the rate at which youths are abusing drugs in Machakos is alarming.in the area.

"I want to urge our youth to stop some behaviours like crime and drug abuse. The vice will never help but ruin your good morals and future," he said in a local dialect 

He, however, asked the congregation to exercise unity and support each other as well as their elected leaders in order to achieve development.

"Without unity and support for each other, we will fail. Let's hold each other's hand and move forward. We as leaders need your support too," he added.

The politician was attending a church service and a fundraiser to purchase a church bus at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Kithimani where he later joined the youth to watch a football match between Kithimani FC and Ting'ang'ana FC at Kithimani HGM Primary School.

He was accompanied by his Wife Florence Maliti, Machakos Woman Rep Joyce Kamene, Education CEC  Lazarus Kivuva, Chief officer legal affairs James Kathili, Kithimani MCA Nicholas Mutulu and Kivaa ward MCA  Justus Kiteng'u
