Detectives investigating the murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani have now shifted focus to Mombasa County after it has emerged that a missing suspect in the case might have travelled to the Coast.
Detectives probing the murder said that the suspect travelled to Mombasa seeking “cleansing” by a witch-doctor.
According to reports, police believe that the mystery man was in the company of the main suspect, Joseph Irungu, on the day when Monica was killed at her apartment in Nairobi.
The police said that the suspect is believed to be in possession of vital evidence which was taken from Monica’s house.
They suspect that the mystery man might be in possession of the weapon that was used to kill Monica, money, Monica’s house and car keys, and clothes.
The team of detectives has been in Mombasa since Sunday and they are pursuing leads that might lead to the arrest of the suspect whom they believe is in Mombasa.
TV journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiancé, Irungu are currently detained in police custody after they were arraigned in court to answer to charges of murder.
The two will face murder charges over the death of Monica who was found killed in her apartment at Lamuria Gardens off Denis Pritt road in Nairobi on September 20.
