Though Citizen TV senior reporter and news anchor Jacque Maribe is facing a grave charge of killing a 28-year-old woman, she should be happy that she is alive.

For a person of Jacque’s caliber, who has had a prolific media career, brushing shoulders with who is who within the political and business world, including taking a selfie with the head of state, staying behind bars is no small means.

Her parents, mostly her father, said the daughter they raised cannot even sit to plan a crime, let alone to kill someone.

Though only Jacque knows the truth on whether she was involved in the callous murder of Monica Kimani, one can relate on why the embattled journalist shed tears when Justice Jessie Lessit sent her to Lang’ata Women’s Prison.

But on October 21, 2017, Maribe escaped death by a whisker.

The journalist was part of a campaign team that was to be ferried to Narok for a Jubilee party.

The rally was to be led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The campaign team had been assigned a chopper and spent Friday night in Nakuru ahead of the Saturday trip.

The chopper crashed into Lake Nakuru National Park that Saturday morning with five aboard.

Jacque who had been in a hotel to allow the team to give a ride and view of Lake Nakuru their ‘friend’  before flying her to Narok to cover the Jubilee rally escaped the crash.

So, despite the troubles facing her today, she should be grateful that she escaped death in that crash!
