Residents of Kaptembwo area in Nakuru West Sub County have raised concerns over the poor state of the Kaptembwo Police Station which was formerly a police post, reports the Standard.
Despite its elevation to a complete station by Internal Security Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiangi in May last year, the station remains a wooded structure with a rusting iron sheet roof.
Also, it lacks permanent offices and other necessary amenities, meaning that it cannot even accommodate Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers that have been deployed to serve area residents from there.
Consequently, the officers and area Officer in Charge of Police Department (OCPD) have been forced to operate from the Rhonda Police Post which is better equipped and built.
The situation has now rendered area residents a complaining and wondering lot, as they call upon the relevant bodies to intervene and give the station a facelift, reports the Standard.
The situation has forced a number of cases to be handled under trees due to lack of rooms, these including gender based violence cases.
The same was on Thursday confirmed by area Member of Parliament Samuel Arama.
The parliamentarian noted that his office has set aside Ksh6 million through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to save the situation.
