A dormitory at St Mary's Mumias Girls' High School has been destroyed in an inferno.
No casualties have been reported from the incident that occurred when students were on the Monday morning assembly.
According to teachers, the fire might be as a result of an electrical fault.
Currently, the institution has no principal since the former holder of the office was transferred by the Teachers Service Commission.
Over the past one week, cases of fires in schools have been rampant.
Unrest has been reported at schools including Ng’iya Girls', Maranda Boys' and Maliera Boys' which have since been since closed.
Last week, a dormitory at Ambira High School in Siaya County was burned down.
Thuura Boys' High School, Mukuiru Secondary and Kisima Secondary in Meru County have also reported cases of fire incidents.
