Residents in Riosiri, South Mugirango constituency in Kisii County petitioned area MP Sylvanus Osoro to resign if he is not ready to apologise to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
While protesting along Riosiri on Sunday, the angry locals said the lawmaker was not elected to insult Matiang'i.
"We need development like other areas. We want good hospitals and schools. MP Osoro has done nothing we can be proud of. We are calling for his immediate resignation since he has refused to apologise to Matiang'i," said one of the locals, Philis Moraa.
Robert Otucho protested that MP Osoro has taken advantage of his association with Tanga Tanga group to insult the Interior CS.
"Mr Osoro is too young to insult Matiang'i just because he is associated with a political group comprising of only cartels. He must withdraw the sentiments he made about Matiang'i terming him hardware without software and declare publicly his exit from the Tanga Tanga group," an angry Otucho said.
Patrick Orina warned that the MP's behaviour won't be tolerated any more.
"It is sad that Osoro is taking his childish behaviour too far to the extent he can insult Matiang'i. As locals, we won't allow him to continue lacking respect for people like Matiang'i. Let him exit Tanga Tanga because after he joined the political group, he has lost focus in leadership," lamented Orina.
