Migori Senator-elect Ochilo Ayacko on Tuesday achieved one of his biggest milestones politically, after making it to the senate in a heavily contested race.

The former Energy Cabinet Minister who was vying on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket managed to beat his closest rival Eddy Oketch to be declared winner.

This, first of all, was a historical win in the life of Ayacko, whose biggest political achievement in elective politics has been the Member of Parliament slot.

Having been in the political cold since 2007, the victory means that he has regained his political footing.

Having as well unsuccessfully taken a shot at the Migori gubernatorial seat in the concluded 2017 general elections, this could be a new beam of hope should he still be eyeing the slot.

Realizing the same would have been extra hard in his initial situation where he was out, and did not hold any elective seat that he could have used to publicize his bid.

Further, judging by the ongoing wrangles between Migori Governor Okoth Obado and the ODM unit, Ayacko will with time rise to the post of the area's biggest political figure.

Therefore, the win meant everything for the veteran politician, who is now only awaiting his coronation before embarking on his legislative roles.
