Political analyst Dr Onyango Ochieng Jnr in a  Facebook analysis gave reasons why he feels CS Matiang'i could make Kenya's next best premier.

According to the analyst, the problem with Kenya has been lack of a transformative leader and Matiang'i fits the bill.

"We need a benevolent dictator to the extent of reforming the public service so that we can have quality public service and public goods," argued the analyst.

Mr Onyango said the public goods and services include roads,  schools, hospitals, water among others which government is the main provider.

The analyst gave an example of Singapore, Israel and South Korea who became industrial powerhouses and having a booming economy,  despite being at the same economic level with Kenya at the time Kenya was attaining independence.

The difference, why the three countries have achieved so much is because they had a benevolent dictator as a leader that pushed the interest of their nation, unlike Kenya.

"We need to get the public service moving.  The only way we can do that is to have a president who sets precedence and that [the] President can only be Matiang'i.

"Matiang'i is an executioner. The problem with the [former] Kenyan Presidents has been lack of following details to the latter, " he said.

He further reckoned that the country needs an institutional approach with a leader who can crack the whip in the public service sector.

Ochieng opined that the government should be keen on ensuring that the interest of Kenyans in regard to the dispensation of services by government institutions always come first.

The analyst stated that if Matiang'i was to step down as a CS,  the government may have troubles executing some of its functions which he is overseeing in his new role as the chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Committee.
