Led by Governor Korane and his close allies, the local Garissa politicians have been holding a series of meetings, with the most recent involving the Aulian clan.
During the meeting, Korane allies accused Duale of allegedly portraying the county in a bad light on matters graft.
On his part, Duale has been calling on Garissa residents to stand up and condemn the 'corrupt' ways of Korane.
In his most recent social media statement, the Garissa Township MP vowed to the on the governor head-on, revealing that the fruits of devolution were yet to felt in the county.
In light of these latest developments, the duo should purpose as a matter of urgency for the sake of residents who voted them in.
It is a fact that not a single leader can ever deliver within his or her mandate without the support of counterparts. That the leaders have taken sides forming two rival political fronts is a security threat in itself.
Given the nature of Garissa politics that is characterized by clan affiliation, it is a very risky line for leaders to engage in divisive politics. This might further escalate to inter-clan feuds that will eventually derail the already made peace initiatives in the volatile region.
