Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor has expressed displeasure after the Two-Thirds Gender Bill flopped for the fourth time.
Noor now says that male MPS purposely stayed away to have the bill fail.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament buildings, the Ijara legislator claimed male MPs are afraid of women leadership.
“It is sad that the bill has once again flopped because our male colleagues deliberately stayed away, " she said.
The MP stated that the constitution is being abused by the fact that Parliament has failed to endorse the Two-Thirds Gender Bill.
“The 2010 constitution clearly provides for the Two-Thirds gender rule in leadership and it is very sad that as Parliament we are yet to effect the Bill, " Garissa Woman rep Anab Subow said.
Subow said women must stand firm and fight for their constitutional right.
She said that unless they fight, their rights will continue to be infringed upon.
