It now emerges that opposition leader Raila Odinga and his ideologies are the main reason behind the prevalence of peace in Homa Bay county after the Supreme Court verdict.
Though the court ruled in favour of Awiti in a petition against his 2017 reelection by Magwanga, the two seem to have struck a consensus to work together.
Speaking on Monday, Magwanga said that his decision to remain peaceful has everything to do with Raila's March 9 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This is with the consideration that Raila is considered the Luo Nyanza kingpin whose moves are obeyed and emulated in the region.
Also, Magwanga's decision could be informed by the fact that he will need Raila's support to win the seat should he seek it again in 2022.
The former Kasipul Kabondo lawmaker is finding it suicidal to keep fighting the governor who is in office on Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for fear of retaliation in 2022.
And though he is also aware that he might not get the ODM ticket in the elections, he would just like to appear a friendly person to better his winning chances.
However, whether or not he will vie and win only time will tell.
