It has been a year of many challenges as the Kenyan entertainment industry faced a huge blow. A number of famous people breathed their last this year as the country and the industry at large mourned their demise.
The entertainment industry lost both upcoming and legendary artists.
Here is a list of notable figures who will be missed dearly.
1.Joseph Kamaru
Veteran Kikuyu Musician Joseph Kamaru died on October 4, 2018, at the age of 79 years while undergoing treatment at the MP Shah Hospital. He was diagnosed with Parkinson plus, a nerve disease which is believed to be the main cause of his death.
The celebrated icon started his long music career in the 1950s. He was notable for his politically motivated songs either praising or criticising the government.
2.Eliud Sagini
Musician Eliud Sagini was a talented rising star. The vocalist died this month days after appearing on KTN str8up show where he told the host that he was not feeling well.
The vocalist was signed under rapper Khaligraph Jones’ Record Label, BluInk Corp and featured in his latest track Testimony.
3.DJ Nakumatt
Entertainer DJ Nakumatt, whose real name is Paul Maina, succumbed to abdominal and liver complications in July.
Maina died at his home in Mwihoko, Githurai shortly after visiting a hospital in the vicinity, where he had gone for a medical check-up.
4.Jamal Nassul Gadaffi
The legendary actor died on December after he was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend Grace Kanamu.
Jamal’s talent was an obvious one given his transition from a ‘childish’ father in Junior to a serious judge in Vioja Mahakamani.
