Politics in Gusii region seems to be taking a new twist after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i was endorsed to be a presidential running mate for Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
On Monday, Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama while speaking at Tinderet primary school playing grounds in Borabu constituency, Nyamira County said Matiang'i has all it takes to be Mutua's running mate in 2022.
"When will a leader from Gusii community lead this country? 2022 is the right time Matiang'i should be the running mate for Mutua," noted Nyagarama.
He reiterated that the Gusii community has been rallying behind leaders from other communities for a long time.
Nyagarama argued that Gusii community is capable of producing a deputy president and president respectively.
Governor Mutua who also addressed the crowd insisted that presidency does not belong to only two tribes.
Mutua who is also the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader confirmed that his quest for presidency is inevitable.
"We cant continue having people from two or three communities leading this country. Kenyans need to elect a leader from other communities to lead this country," said Mutua.
