There is panic at Moi University Nairobi campus after a section of students was relocated to the varsity’s main campus in Eldoret.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research and Extension) Prof Isaac Kimengi told nation that 13 students in second year second semester and third year first semester will be relocated to the main campus in Eldoret from next semester.
“The dean is therefore requested to liaise with registrars on the movement and settling of the students in the main campus,” the paper quoted an internal memo.
Other students now fear that the campus is about to close down.
Sources at the campus said already, Moi University has surrendered several floors of the Bazaar building after they were unable to pay rent.
According to a student who schools at the campus, ‘there is panic and confusion’.“We don’t know what is happening, and like you know these people never tell the truth.
We suspect they want to transfer people in bunches (to main campus),” the student said.
A lecturer who teaches at the institution’s main campus said the institutions of higher education are facing a cash crisis.
