There has been a debate as to whether President Uhuru Kenyatta reduced DP Ruto's power by appointing Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to be the head of all cabinet secretaries and government development agenda.
Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi in his conversation the fifth estate views it as just a grooming process for DP Ruto to succeed him in 2022.
In his show the fifth estate, his team uses a parable to explain this view.
"When the Almighty wants to make a man a president, he thrills the man first then ruthlessly skills the man, he bends him without breaking him and stretches him without snapping him then he perfects the man," he said.
The analyst further noted that; "William Ruto is just being perfected and Matiang'i is one of the tools."
However, she warned Ruto to grab his opportunity and play his cards right since his( DP Ruto) path is rough and he needs to take charge of his ambition.
"It started with Uhuru calling him Kijana, then accusing him of 'kumangamanga', then shortly after Uhuru did the handshake now it's Matiang'i all this happening in the first year of Uhuru's last term".
He concluded that Uhuru might be attacking DP Ruto using Matiang'i and handshake for good reason with an aim of preparing him for the presidency.
