Lately, the president has been facing resistance from ordinary people with the situation escalating after the passing of controversial Finance Bill, 2018.

On JKL Show, Wednesday, the former Kiambu boss blamed "sycophants' for misleading the president in very 'serious' matters'.

"For now he must drop his Big Four agenda because we cannot sustain it by increasing taxes on the poor and going for more loans. Rampant corruption in government supercedes all this.

"The problem is being surrounded by stupid people. They are sycophants who can tell him the truth. People who tell the truth are the true friends. The moment he gets rid of them, things will be fine," he said.

In particular, Mr. Kabogo accused Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich of imposing poor fiscal policies to the economic sector adding that he has scared away investors.

He poked holes at the president's decision to burn contraband goods at Athi River, insisting the move was misguided.

"Yes, it was a good move but how did the goods make their way to the country? He has hurt people who borrowed money to do business."
