Ukay mall in Westlands Nairobi was on Friday morning demolished.
This comes a day after the South-end mall along Langata road was demolished for being illegally built on riparian land which Article 67 of the Constitution states is public land.
The demolition of Ukay mall comes after The High Court on Thursday declined to issue orders stopping the government from demolishing the premises. The owners of the mall have so far claimed that construction of the mall was approved by the Nairobi City Council in 1994.
The demolitions started very early in the morning despite a planned parliamentary committee meeting with the owners today.
Speaking to Citizen TV on Friday morning, one of the owners stated his disappointment as they not given any notice prior to the demolitions.
Shop owners at the mall have also complained that they were not given time to retrieve their items inside the building before the demolition exercise.
The government has so far targetted to demolish more buildings said to be on public land as this would help restore the city.
Other buildings that have been affected by the demolition exercise so far include Shell petrol station and Java Coffee House in Kileleshwa.
