The lawmaker was heading for the Universal Healthcare Conference in Rwanda but was forced to cancel it due to the ongoing strike of aviation staff at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Speaking on KTN News, the lawmaker narrated how he was forced to wait at the airport for hours alongside other top state officials and elected leaders before deciding to cancel the trip.

"I was at the airport since 3am. I was headed to Kigali but I have given up. Other Members of Parliament headed to other parts of the world are also stranded at JKIA," he said.

He expressed fears that such issues might gravely cost the nation if not addressed in the shortest time possible.

Kuria said that such strikes expose the country to competition from the likes of Ethiopia and Rwanda which have fully prevented such in their airports, adding that the move might land Kenya in trouble.

"This is very sad and costly because we are now getting a run for our money from a small nation like Rwanda. The worst part is that we saw it coming and did nothing," he added.

The lawmaker's flight was expected to depart at 5am.
