There was drama on Wednesday at Omosocho area in Kemera, Nyamira County after an angry widow chased a man who inherited her from her house.
Witnesses said the woman identified as Teresa Nyanchera was angered by the man, Protus Oroo, who allegedly tried to beat her for failing to cook for him.
"Nyanchera picked a machete and chased Oroo from her house after he returned home drunk and demanded to be given food. Oroo was forced to run for his life because Nyanchera threatened to cut him into pieces," said a local Daniel Obwocha.
Area assistant chief Benson Orogo warned men who have inherited widows to go slow on them.
"Oroo's case should teach men who have inherited widowed women a lesson. It is advisable for men to remain faithful in their marriages and stop chasing widows for sex," he said.
Orogo argued that Nyanchera has been a hardworking woman since her husband passed away 3 years ago.
The administrator further urged widows to stop accepting men carelessly who may end up not helping them.
"Any man inheriting a widow should be willing to help the woman and her kids," he added.
