There was drama at the Kisumu County Assembly on Wednesday, when an attempted ouster of County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo flopped.
This is after section of Kisumu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) tabled a motion to impeach him on the floor of the house.
It was, however, swiftly defeated, after the majority members opposed the proposal filed by Nominated MCA Caleb Omoro, who wanted Oloo ousted over alleged bad conduct.
The majority, however, read mischief in the motion, resulting to commotion that disrupted the house's afternoon session.
Terming it a calculated move, they immediately quashed it, as they proceed with plans to, however, oust two members of the County Service Board, reports the Citizen Digital.
According to Kolwa East MCA Stephen Owiti, the motion was poorly coordinated as no member had appended their signature in support of Oloo's ouster.
He added that it as well did not follow the required Speaker ouster procedure.
The majority members further opposed interim speaker Roy Samo's proposal that the motion be suspended, proposing that it be expelled in its entirety.
Oloo was formerly the Secretary General of President Uhuru Kenyatta's now defunct The National Alliance (TNA) party, before crossing over to the opposition side in 2017.
