The curvy lady queen went missing from social media since January 2019, leaving her fans with many rhetorical questions.

She has, however, resurfaced with shocking news about her weight gain, which is one of the reasons why she went under the carpet.

Through her Instagram revelation, the former Miss Universe Kenya said that she gained weight close to 40 kilograms in less than six months which almost plunged her into depression.

She was weighing only 69 kgs before she shot to 105 kgs.

"The short of it is I gained almost 40 kilos (80 lbs) between Sep 2018 and March 2019. Around July last year I had a big life event happen to me and it just knocked the wind out of me. I was burned out. Perhaps it was an early 30s mid life crisis? 🤷🏾‍♀️. I started having trouble sleeping. From September to March I would stay awake all night till 9 in the morning every single day," read her post in part.

Marete is now in the process of bringing her weight to where it was before the rapid rise. She is currently weighing 85 kgs and is determined to bring it down.

"I pushed myself as hard as I possibly could. I did lots of fasting, Yoga, meditation, hiking, and Muay Thai kickboxing," she added.

She has promised to share full details of what she did for that massive loss with those struggling with gain.
