Nyamira County senator Okong'o O'mogeni has said that he was validly and overwhelmingly elected by the people of Nyamira.
According to Okong'o, he never forced himself on the people of Nyamira.
He has urged a section of local leaders opposed to his leadership to keep off and wait for 2022 to contest.
"The people of Nyamia elected me not some selfish individuals who wake up everyday to criticize me. I wish to reiterate that I didn't force myself on the people of Nyamira during the August 8, 2017 general elections," he said on Sunday at Nyantaro in Bosamaro in Nyamira County.
Okong'o confirmed that he is working around the clock to push the national government send more money to Nyamira County for development projects.
He challenged Governor John Nyagarama to ensure no single cent is misused.
"Money being sent from the national government should be used appropriately. I'm appealing to Nyagarama to spend the funds wisely and initiate more development projects which will benefit the people," he added.
The opposition allied senator urged politicians in the county to embrace the handshake and be peace preachers.
