Victor Wanyama, now 26, and who plays for Tottenham Hotspurs is still the most polarizing player in Kenyan football, but for different reasons than he used to be.
The answer is, to me, pretty clear—Wanyama is on the downside of his career. The Kenyan midfielder has made only three substitute appearances in nine of Spurs Premier League games after recovering from a knee injury during the off-season but has not started a league match since last May.
Wanyama, who blossomed in the 2015/2016 campaign, has dipped in form, forcing him to fight for his place in the midfield hierarchy.
Tottenham currently has some more promising midfield selections with the likes of Harry winks forcing their way into the midfield slots and the notables Eric dier, Moussa Dembele and Sissoko staying in form.
It's hard to see where Wanyama could fit if he doesn't put his house in order.
Wanyama took part in Kenya's triumph against Ethiopia in both fixtures is a big step towards his full match fitness and regaining the coach's trust at club level.
Wanyama has all the attributes to be a very good midfielder but there's a feeling that he's still not realized his full potential. Maybe working more harder could be exactly what he needs right now.
