A 28-year-old man committed suicide after disagreeing with his parents over a piece of land.
This incident happened on Tuesday at Isena village in Nyacheki, Kisii County.
Confirming the incident, area chief Dismas Gichana, said the deceased Nicholas Ombui quarreled with his father, William Ombui and his mother, Emmah Moraa over a piece of land he wanted to inherit.
Ombui has been demanding for a share of his father's land for some time but his bid to convince his parents to give it to him have been futile.
"I went to the homestead to solve the land dispute and we agreed that the portion of land they have been quarreling for should be cultivated by the deceased parents," said the chief.
"I left the home to my office and 1 hour I was called only to be informed that Nicholas had hanged himself."
Gichana said he immediately rushed to the homestead and found the deceased lifeless body hanging from the roof of his house.
"I alerted Nyangoso police officers who arrived cut the rope and took the body to Nyamache hospital morgue," he added.
The chief called on youths to stop depending on their parents' property but, instead work hard to make their own wealth.
The deceased's father said his son wanted to sell the piece of land which is why he declined to oblige Ombui's demands. The aftermath was that she committed suicide.
