It is a major reprieve for residents of Marani Sub-County after Kisii County Governor James Ongwae on Tuesday opened Ultrasound, X-Ray, outpatient block at Marani Level 4 hospital.
The governor said residents who have been traveling long distanced to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital to seek X-Ray and Ultrasound will have access to the services close to them.
He reiterated that his government is committed to making health care affordable.
"Locals of Marani have something to smile because the X-Ray and Ultra Sound services will be offered at Marani Level 4 hospital. My government will continue supporting local health centers with the necessary equipment to offer quality services," he said.
The Governor assured that plans are ongoing to hire more people to work at the public health centers.
"More nurses will be hired to work at local dispensaries. More drugs will also be in store for patients to get the free drugs," he stated.
The county boss also inspected the ongoing projects including a mortuary, pediatric ward, ultramodern casualty and theatre block at the facility.
He urged health workers not to harass residents at health facilities.
