Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has told off critics questioning the source of his wealth.
Muthama said he can account for everything he owns stating that he has never engaged in any corrupt dealings as some people think.
The ex-senator said he has worked hard for his wealth.
He addressed the press at Tala in Matungulu Sub County on Sunday.
Muthama said he hates corruption and those who engage in it.
“I can account for every penny I own. People should learn to work hard for their money and wealth instead of stealing,” Muthama said.
The politician said he started working for his millions when was still a young boy.
He said corruption remains a serious economic disease in the country.
Muthama noted that some leaders turn greedy and hungry for money when they get elected into office.
He told Kenyans to be careful on the kind of leaders they elect, stating that Kenyans are the reason to why corruption exists.
Muthama said there is a culture of electing corrupt leaders in the country.
He asked Kenyans to stop making mistakes by electing to office greedy and corrupt leaders.
Muthama is said to be among the top wealthy Ukambani politicians with investments in mining and agricultural sectors.
