Muthama said locals are crying out for lack of services.

Speaking in Kangundo town on Friday, Muthama said elected leaders have responsibilities to serve the residents and ensure their concerns are addressed.

He said some elected leaders have kept quite as the electorates' rights are infringed.

Muthama hit out at some leaders for remaining silent on the recent evictions in Athi River.

Muthama accused leaders of keeping quite when innocent people were being evicted.

"We must do what people elected us to do so that we improve their living standards and safeguard their interests from greedy and selfish people," Muthama said.

Muthama asked residents to demand services from their leaders.

He said the Machakos County Government must be brought to task on what it has done for the people.

"It is time we rejected Public Relations and publicity and demand for development," Muthama said.
