The name of the CS has since been dragged into the Sh400 fake gold scandal, which has seen a section of members of the ruling Jubilee Party call for his immediate resignation.

On Monday, Duale's minority counterpart and Suba South MP John Mbadi raised alarm over an impending attempt to impeach Matiang'i, claims that the Garissa Township legislator dismissed on Wednesday.

Duale said that the threshold of removing a state official of Matiang'i's calibre is very high, adding that he would be the first person to reject such an attempt if it were to realize.

“Nobody has any plan to sponsor a motion of removal from office of Dr Matiang’i. If it ever came, I would be the first to defend the government official,” he was quoted by the Nation.

The vocal MP added that the ruling Jubilee Party would not entertain any attempt to impeach any state official, bashing Mbadi for lying to Kenyans about the entire issue.

He, however, said that he will not respond to the attacks being fired at Matiang'i by the political class, but has the ability to respond if the motion is brought to the floor of the house.

“If they want to remove the CS (s) in rallies or bars, I cannot stop them because they are not within the precincts of Parliament. Otherwise, it is not a walk in the park. Mbadi should not lie because unlike him, I have the numbers in the House to protect the CS," said Duale.https://mobile.nation.co.ke/news/politics/No-plot-to-remove-Matiangi-says-Duale/3126390-5127064-u3eh31z/index.html
