Even as politicians, musicians and fans gathered to give tribute to fallen Egesa FM presenter Joseph Mochere, Governor John Nyagarama was conspicuously absent.
Mr. Mochere popularly known as Okebiro O'Mose committed suicide a fortnight ago over what pundits relate to family wrangles.
But Nyagarama, who rarely misses such gatherings, was nowhere to be seen despite the magnitude of the burial.
And a close aide, George Momanyi hinted that the county boss had gone to console the family of his deputy, Amos Nyaribo who had lost an uncle.
"At Magwagwa where the governor is attending funeral to uncle to the deputy governor.
"He will not be at Motagara to console the family of Okebiro," he wrote.
A top government official however insists that the governor deliberately snubbed the funeral due to his traditional stand off with Egesa FM.
"They ridiculed him during elections to an extent of saying that if elected, he may die in office," said the officer.
County speaker Moffat Teya led a battalion of leaders among them West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi and former Kitutu Masaba boss Timothy Bosire in the funeral.
