In what could be the latest reunion in unpredictable Kenya's political dynamics, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja on Monday addressed a crowd jointly with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Since the handshake between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta last year, politicians are realigning themselves ahead of 2022 polls.
Mr Odinga had made a brief stopover at Burma market, where he greeted hundreds of his supporters who mobbed his vehicle.
He was in the company of Sakaja, a Jubilee senator and Senate Minority Leader James Orengo. Both of them were inside Raila's vehicle.
"Dropped by Burma Market to say hello to the people," Odinga, who has been under immense criticism from a section of Jubilee leaders wrote.
Last year, Sakaja caused a storm within Jubilee Party when he condemned the arrest of Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino.
With Owino facing charges against insulting the president, only Sakaja from Jubilee wing who came to his defense.
“Whoever is trying to use the criminal justice system to score whichever goals, should stop. And if you are in the police force and you think by doing this you are helping Jubilee, you are not,” Sakaja said while flanked by Owino.
“Babu pole sana together with your bodyguard. As soon as I got the information from one of your people I was able to dash over here,” he told Owino as quoted by the Nation.
The youthful senator is reportedly eyeing Nairobi gubernatorial seat. He also supports the handshake between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, a move that could see him contesting from their impending political faction.
