Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has told off his Kiambu counterpart Governor Ferdinand Waititu following his last Saturday's utterances during a meeting with an association of matatu owners from the metropolitan counties.
During the meeting, Waititu accused Sonko of harming businesses based in Nairobi through the demolition of structures in the city and also by banning the Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) from accessing the town centre.
"We will not allow Nairobi again to go into the hands of somebody who does not care about the livelihoods of our people," Waititu said in Ruiru.
However, Sonko talking during a lengthy interview on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday discredited Waititu's assertions accusing him of 'tribalism, bhang smoking and madness'.
At the same time, the Nairobi boss accused Waititu of land grabbing in Embakasi while he served as the area MP, a vice, he claimed that the governor has taken to Kiambu where "he is grabbing even land belonging to widows".
"You should not listen to mad people like Waititu who speak under the influence of bhang... I have proof, we used to smoke weed with him and he used to hide it under the socks. I have since quit smoking it but Waititu continues to do the same as Kiambu governor," said Sonko.
Sonko also dared Waititu to challenge him in Nairobi County politics in 2022 saying that "nitamkaanga asubuhi" (I'll trounce him early in the morning).
"In the spirit of the handshake, Waititu should not try and put a wedge between me and my good Kikuyu supporters in Nairobi by pretending to fight for them. We are past ethnic politics and Waititu better be advised not to drag us back there," added Sonko.
