Fourteen county governors will on Saturday miss Mashujaa Day celebrations at their jurisdictions following summons by President Uhuru Kenyatta to Bukhungu stadium where the national government is holding the event.
State House handlers on Saturday morning called each of the givernors, communicating the last-minute plan by the Head of State.
"The governor will not be attending Mashujaa Day celebrations at Ekerenyo grounds today as planned earlier.
"Just like thirteen others, he was summoned by State House to accompany the President at Bukhungu stadium. They all got aclls this morning and so he hasn't snubbed the event," said Governor John Nyagarama's Director of Press Kefa Miller.
There were concerns that Mr. Nyagarama, who was conspicuously missing from botched Egesa FM dialogue at Viongozi Center on Friday, may have skipped the event due to possible planned heckling by locals.
At Viongozi, at least six ministers, MCAs and County Speaker Moffat Teya, were evacuated after rowdy youths started throwing chairs indiscriminately.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is attending the Bukhungu event alongside former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
On Monday, all the governors from Lake Region Economic Bloc, will convene at Bomet for a three days exhibition, which will be graced by the President.
