Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has asked her supporters to remain hopeful ahead of the Supreme Court ruling on an election, appeal case filed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Mutua moved to the highest court of the land challenging the court of appeal ruling that nullified his August 8, 2017's re-election.
Exuding confidence that the appeal will be dismissed, Ndeti asked her supporters to pray.
Ndeti said she is hopeful of a gubernatorial by-election in Machakos.
She addressed her supporters shortly after her lawyers made final submissions at the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Ndeti said Machakos residents deserve another opportunity to elect their preferred governor.
She maintained that the August 8 gubernatorial election was not free and fair.
Ndeti claims that her victory was stolen, adding that the only way to ensure justice is for a fresh gubernatorial poll to be held in Machakos.
The former MP said her ambition to serve and represent Machakos people as their governor is still alive.
She claimed that the residents have been sidelined and shortchanged on the development matters and public participation.
Both Ndeti and Mutua appeared before the Supreme Court Judges on Wednesday where they made their submissions on the appeal.
The Supreme Court Judges said the court will notify the parties on when the ruling will be made.
Political temperatures and rivalry between Ndeti and Mutua are expected to boil up ahead of the crucial ruling.
The two politicians are not seeing eye to politically and have often engaged in ugly public spats.
