There was no doubt that when Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula faced the media on Wednesday that questions about the fake gold scandal would be hurled his way.
As expected, that question was asked but the former Senate majority leader refused to weigh in on the issue only calling it a 'non-issue' as he rattled off his itinerary.
"I am here because I am here. I am here for my party meetings. I am not aware of what you are talking about... It is a non-issue to me and I don't want to engage in it, " said the embattled senator.
Wetangula has been trending for days on end following the release of a phone recording said to be of him and a representative of the Dubai royal family.
The Bungoma senator is expected to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as the investigative agency has named him as a person of interest.
Mohamed Bin Rashid al-Maktoum is among people alleged to have been swindled of millions of shillings by the fake gold syndicate whose activities have come under scrutiny.
A number of people were arrested and grilled in connection with the saga.
