According to the second in command, who is eyeing the nation’s top seat in 2022, the registration will ease the paperwork burden.

He noted that it will be easy for Kenyans to conduct their daily businesses with the number in place.

He spoke on Tuesday in Lang’ata Constituency where he joined other Kenyans in registering for the same.

He also said that there those seeking government services will find it easier if they have been given this number.

“It will cut on the burdensome paperwork of carrying the identity card, driving license, among other documents while seeking services from the government,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

Ruto also said that the project will reduce the number of Kenyans using fake ID cards to commit crimes in the nation as well as across the borders.

During the launch of the project in Machakos last week, President Kenyatta  said that the project will help root out ghost workers for the sake of protecting resources belonging to the tax payers.

He noted that levels off corruption have reached unprecedented levels and Huduma Namba is among the ways to curb the same with ease.
