Police officers in Borabu Sub County on Tuesday recovered five stolen cattle.
Confirming the incident area police boss Michael Lesmum said armed three cattle rustlers stormed Edwin Ombiro's homestead in Esise ward and stole the cattle.
"Livestock theft must come to an end in Nyamira. The three cattle rustlers were lucky to escape otherwise, they could be in custody by now," Lesmum said.
He lauded locals for responding quickly to the alarm raised to chase after the cattle rustlers.
"I am happy with the teamwork shown by members of the public which led to the recovery of the five cattle. Police will continue working closely with the public to fight impunity in the region," he added.
The police boss also warned local youths against colluding with thieves to steal people's livestock adding that the law will not spare thieves.
Lesmum urged locals to report anyone they suspect is among the cattle rustlers hiding in the area to authorities for the arrest to be made.
"Police won't reveal the identity of anyone who will volunteer information to them about the cattle thieves hiding in the region," he assured.
