Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim is among veteran and vocal politicians of Somali origin in the country.
The former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party MP once served as the National Assembly Deputy Speaker.
Despite losing bid for the Garissa Township parliamentary seat in 2017 general election, Maalim has remained vocal.
The former MP often makes comments on issues facing the country and the larger North Eastern region.
On Tuesday, Maalim took to his Twitter handle bragging about the achievements he made when served as Lagdera MP.
“When I was in the 10th Parliament Lagdera was in the top 44 richest constituencies. It was the only constituency from Northern Kenya to perform that well,” he tweeted.
In his tweet, the former MP added, “If you want to know how such was achieved then ask politely but if you are SM mercenary maintain your vitriol.”
The former MP currently hosts the ‘Speakers Gallery’, a political show aired on a local TV station.
There is rife speculation that Maalim could bid for the Garissa governor seat in the upcoming 2022 general election.
The Wiper Party deputy leader is however yet to hint on whether he will be on the Garissa gubernatorial ballot in 2022.
