Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko on Friday attended a burial ceremony of Pacifica Obegi Obwori at Mosocho area, Kisii County.
Pacifica was the mother to Edward Gichana who works with the Nairobi County government.
There was no any elected leader from Kisii who attended the burial including the area MP Richard Onyonka.
Sonko addressed mourners saying he has a kind heart and he always stands with several people when faced with difficulties.
"I decided to attend the burial in person to condole with the family of Mr. Gichana who a good staff member helping me to serve the people of Nairobi," said Sonko amid cheers from mourners.
The Jubilee party allied governor donated Sh200,000 to the bereaved family.
"The old mothers singing in choir are a blessing to us. I hereby donate Sh100,000 for them as a sign of appreciation for gracing this final journey of Mr Gichana's mother," said Sonko.
The controversial governor later posed for photos with family members and other locals before he left to Migori County to attend a fundraiser in aid of building classrooms at Radienya Girls' Secondary School in Suna East.
