A section of Nyamira leaders have mourned the death of former UN secretary Koffi Annan.

The leaders led by Borab MP Ben Momanyi said Annan will be remembered for brokering a deal between ODM leader Raila Odinga and former President Mwai Kibaki.

"I have leant Annan’s death with shock since he is the same person who intervened to have Raila and Kibaki agree in 2007 during the post-election chaos. 

"He will be remembered for the important role he played to Kenyans during the difficulty times,” he said. 

The NASA allied MP reiterated that leaders and Kenyans should learn to live in peace as Annan who was a great peace maker.

Bonchari MP John Oyioka said Annan’s death is a blow to Kenyans. 

“Kenyans will never forget him since he is the person who led in the peace making between Raila and Kibaki in 2007.

"It is time as Kenyans we should mourn him and I personally wish him well and may his soul rest well,” he noted.

West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi stated that there will be no Annan’s replacement at the UN.

"Annan will never be replaced at the UN since he helped Kenyans in 2007 during the post-election chaos. We as Kenyans should celebrate his days since he is the reason we have a peaceful country,” he noted.

Annan died aged 80 years after a short illness.
